Roadmap 2026/2027

Update, 17 September. We’ve refined the plan since this post went out. In October you get a CLI your assistant can use, in November the change timeline marks changes that no other person approved, and in December Needs your attention starts with asking your assistant. Shoehorn itself won’t run or call any AI model. The list below is up to date.

We have planned, and finally set, the rough plan for the last months of this year and the beginning of 2027. We aim to release Shoehorn 1.0 by March next year. It’s ambitious, and we’d like your feedback on the way there.

While we’re focusing on bugs and on making the platform stable and fast, we have added a few new features too. The full list, version by version, is on the roadmap page. A few highlights:

  • 0.7.0, September. Mostly MCP: one server that answers questions across every connected cluster, sign-in through your company login, and HolmesGPT support.
  • 0.7.1, September. Newer Meilisearch, Go, Valkey, Redpanda, and Cerbos.
  • 0.8.0, October. Service Passport, one page that explains a service. Microsoft Entra ID for sign-in, and a CLI that gives your assistant the same answers as MCP.
  • 0.8.1, November. Change Lens: what changed around a service, on one timeline, with each change marked by whether another person approved it. Apps deployed by a central Argo CD instance also show up on the cluster they actually run on.
  • 0.9.0, December. Needs your attention: a short, ranked list of real problems. Your assistant can ask for it, and your home page shows it too.
  • 0.9.1, January. Feature freeze. We spend it on bugs, edge cases, and clean upgrades from older versions.
  • 1.0.0, March 2027. The lenses ship as one thing over a single service graph. Everything you can see in the web app, your assistant can ask for over MCP or the CLI, and Shoehorn itself doesn’t run or call any AI model.
  • 1.1.0, after 1.0. Cost Lens, GitOps outcome with one view of Argo CD and Flux across your clusters, code search, GitLab, Gitea, and Azure. Pencilled in for May 2027, and the part most likely to move.
